In Front of Me

Standard

The sun rose gently today,

I am thankful for that.

Giving my eyes time to adjust;

Delicate light

Touches stone

And cactus.

Life around me

Stretches and yawns at once.

The birds join in

As they announce the arrival of day once again,

Happily

In synch with the natural rhythms of life.

The sun has peaked the horizon

And now burns my eyes.

For this I am grateful as well,

To set myself free of yesterdays burdens

And confusion

With breath and light,

For this is the world

Right in front of me.

Exponentially

Standard

Perpetually learning

To unlearn.

And this is life.

A heart that sees and eyes that blink.

An ever steady soul flowing.

Evolve.

Expand beyond thoughts,

Beyond this word called sanity;

Creating worlds without boundaries.

Reaching. Pushing. Pulling.

Exponentially exploding.

Becoming only to undo

And

Remake

Evermore.

As You Are

Standard

I will leave you as you are

If that’s what you like.

Or

I can return at sundown.

You can put your hand in mine

If that’s what you like.

And place your head on my shoulder.

The world goes on.

The noise continues outside

As warm smiles get colder.

But here there can be just you and I.

Heat from within

If that’s what you like.

I Knew Him

Standard

I knew him then.

The boy.

The child.

I knew him when the sun played on his shoulders.

When a glance at the clouds above would set him free.

When nothing could stop him from

Dancing

Or

Smiling.

It is as if another lifetime now.

I do not know what happened out there in the world.

I do not know who stole

Delight from his veins.

But I do know

Whoever

Stole it,

They did not take it all.

For

I see it in his shadow.
