Words pierce armor

Mere words
We are neither one
Nor the other
Which we try to
Call each other.
Identities created leave us encased in circles.
Either looking up or down,
Not around.
Forgetting there is more.
Thinking we are bound by others thoughts on life
And love.
We are too much to be reduced
To mere words created
In an effort to make sense.
So Many
So many words.
So many thoughts.
A barrage.
A tidal wave surging from a still pond
(waves with nowhere to break)
All at once and I am pulled under.
All of me.
I cannot breathe.
Trying to force them
Into smaller bits and pieces.
Crush them until there is nothing left.
No words.
To Busy
Her voice is soft.
She tries to look you in the eyes.
Oh how she would love you to hear
The words she speaks,
But,
You are to busy listening to yourself
And what you have to say
To hear anyone else.
Letters
She falters for words
(just keep breathing)
So she chooses instead
To pour her heart into
Paper and lead.
She saves her breath
(just keep breathing)
Slipping
Secrets
So delicately
Into the curves
Of each letter
She writes.
(hands steady she keeps breathing)
Affintiy
Yes I have an affinity
For
Rainbows
And
Getting lost.
Kind words and lip gloss.
Singing in the rain
And record players.
Wind in my hair
And
Silence.
Dancing by myself and stranger’s grins.
Sand in my toes
And the smell of mountain air
On my skin.
So many little things that go so far.
Yes they make me smile.
You see
These little things save me
From myself.
A Poet’s Seduction
Seduce.
You lure and entice.
A poet’s seduction.
A maker of sighs and smiles.
Words of reality woven
Into the ink of fantasy
Until you cannot tell
Which one you have become.
Which one you yearn for.
Words caressing your heart and mind.
Finding their way into depths
Even you yourself cannot find.
Tempting and tantalizing
Between passion and longing.
Loneliness and belonging.
Lust and hate
Love and distaste.
You’ve left yourself
Bargaining for
More than a phrase.
Falling
Often
Emotions overwhelm me (us).
I (we) cannot seem to think.
Words always fail me (us)
And
I (we) feel as if I am (we are) falling,
When
All
I (we) need
Is love.
Mere Words
Mere
Words
Are humbled in her presence.
In the realization that they are not enough.
You do not speak of her,
Or write of her.
You succumb to her infallible
Existence.
You feel her.
Haunted
Always,
The girl with ghosts in her eyes.
Haunted.
Certain words are spoken
And her gaze is broken.
She is gone.
Triggers deep inside tripped by
A sentiment.
Shame ensues.
A song
And her heart is racing.
A car backfires
And
The longing,
The ache for safety carries her away
Into the
Other side
Where no one can reach her.
Choking as she tries to speak,
Tendrils from her gut
Pulling her breath back inside.
Back to hide.
No,
Mere
Words will not do
For they cannot be found.
