Mere words

Standard

We are neither one

Nor the other

Which we try to

Call each other.

Identities created leave us encased in circles.

Either looking up or down,

Not around.

Forgetting there is more.

Thinking we are bound by others thoughts on life

And love.

We are too much to be reduced

To mere words created

In an effort to make sense.

Affintiy

Standard

Yes I have an affinity

For

Rainbows

And

Getting lost.

Kind words and lip gloss.

Singing in the rain

And record players.

Wind in my hair

And

Silence.

Dancing by myself and stranger’s grins.

Sand in my toes

And the smell of mountain air

On my skin.

So many little things that go so far.

Yes they make me smile.

You see

These little things save me

From myself.

A Poet’s Seduction

Standard

Seduce.

You lure and entice.

A poet’s seduction.

A maker of sighs and smiles.

Words of reality woven

Into the ink of fantasy

Until you cannot tell

Which one you have become.

Which one you yearn for.

Words caressing your heart and mind.

Finding their way into depths

Even you yourself cannot find.

Tempting and tantalizing

Between passion and longing.

Loneliness and belonging.

Lust and hate

Love and distaste.

You’ve left yourself

Bargaining for

More than a phrase.

Haunted

Standard

Always,

The girl with ghosts in her eyes.

Haunted.

Certain words are spoken

And her gaze is broken.

She is gone.

Triggers deep inside tripped by

A sentiment.

Shame ensues.

A song

And her heart is racing.

A car backfires

And

The longing,

The ache for safety carries her away

Into the

Other side

Where no one can reach her.

Choking as she tries to speak,

Tendrils from her gut

Pulling her breath back inside.

Back to hide.

No,

Mere

Words will not do

For they cannot be found.
