Moving in close,
His hair smells like wind and storms.
His skin feels like life.
Winter, spring, summer, fall
Bloom at once with a touch.
A smile.
Submerged in the song of our
Heartbeats.
Unison.
Harmony.
Strum;
A new tune begun.
Moving in close,
His hair smells like wind and storms.
His skin feels like life.
Winter, spring, summer, fall
Bloom at once with a touch.
A smile.
Submerged in the song of our
Heartbeats.
Unison.
Harmony.
Strum;
A new tune begun.
You must have been an
Apparition.
A made up someone in my
Imagination.
For I wandered these stone stairwells
And
I roamed through
Winters withering garden
Following your song.
I knew I should find shelter,
Somewhere to warm my core.
But once outside I could return
Inside no more
For
I was met with barred windows and
Locked doors.
I found you in the courtyard.
I tried to reach you.
Touch you.
You vanished as I approached.
My fingers now cold and frozen,
I,
Left dreaming in the fog with ghosts and snowflakes.
And I remained alone
As I was all
Along.
I must have mistaken the
Wind howling through
Windows and doors,
Through
Winters garden
For your song.

Winter awakening.
Sunrise.
Sunlight on the
Tree before me
Looks sharper that yesterday.
Steam from my breath
Dances with steaming
Hot drink
As my lips meet the rim,
Expectations met.
Winter soup.
Sprinkle in
More spice and peppers,
Hot and vibrant.
Turning up the heat,
The warmth flushes through
My body
With every bite.
Savory deliciousness .
Ah
But I breathe.
I hear a sigh escape your lips
As you see the colors too.
As you see the wind pulling the leaves from the trees.
They do their final dance for us.
And they return to the
Earth
That nourished them.
Some ride the wind so delicately.
Others seem out of control
As if fighting the pull of gravity.
Ultimately they all fall.
We endure.
I feel the warmth of your skin
As
You move closer.
This knowing between us,
It is time to hold each other.
This sorrow,
We must let it envelope us
If we are to ever love through winter.

Cold winter rain falls on my
Face.
I like to look up when it is pouring
Allowing myself to
Get completely
Drenched because everything dries
Off eventually right?
It burns my skin
Yet chills my bones.
I love how it makes me feel alive,
My whole body
Shivering to keep me warm.
All the hairs on my body standing up
In protest.
I protest the protest and giggle.
And it always feels so delicious to get warm After
A good chill.
On to a hot shower and into
A pile of blankets
Until another moment shakes up all of
My senses.
Life presents
Continuous moments to marvel.
People always try to make you choose.
Trying to figure you out.
Do you like cats or dogs,
Lakes or the ocean?
Mountains or deserts?
Sunrise or sunset,
Rain or sunshine?
Spring, summer, fall or winter?
You can like it all you know.
You do not have to choose.
Leave them confused.
The first chord
And I am taken back
To days
Gone by.
Mamma cooking in the kitchen with
Her favorite apron on.
Her cheeks rosie
And heart full.
Dad sitting back on the couch,
A big grin on his face.
Christmas records playing.
And laughter echoing
Through our
Tiny trailer insulated in snow.
Neighbors, friends and family crammed in every nook
As we celebrated
The holiday season.
(cigarette smoke filled the air and alcohol flowed amidst the peaceful chaos)
We could not help but touch for there
Was no room to hide.
We did not have much
But we had each other.
Ups and downs,
Good and bad.
We wore our love without shame.
Our humanness on the inside reaching out.
Pulling each other through the endless
Cold winter nights.
Each of us our own shade of light
Together creating a beacon to keep
Warm.
We magnified each others hearts with love.
He’s the in between.
Born on the cusp.
He is winter in spring.
A flower blooming in the frigid cold,
Not sure where to go…..
He shines a light all his own.
Smiles to share yet
He cries alone.
On gilded wings she’s watched
Him fly too close to the sun.
So here she waits
Ready to catch him,
Ready to hold him
When he falls.
Wings singed;
Heart-tired he falls heavy.
She sings softly now
Cradling him in the in between.
Sharing her breath until he can
Breathe on his own once again.
