Unexpected

Standard

The trees before me

Wave an acknowledging hello

As the wind escorts the clouds

All blue and gray

Over the mountain peak.

And unexpected joy

Seeps into my skin as

A deer wanders near my seat and stops to stare.

An ant wanders onto my foot.

I know he is lost

For I have nothing to

Offer him.

Back to the dirt he returns.

Tears

Standard

She stood staring at the monument,

Her mind taken back

To then.

Was that the same wind blowing through her hair

That blew

On a day so very long ago?

Has it just been traveling the world;

Been out there somewhere waiting to hear her heart beat again?

Now she was

Afraid to turn around.

Not ready to leave,

Fearful the tears would fall

And a passerby would stare.

They would most likely

Assume she must be drunk or out of her mind.

No, she teetered on the edge and almost plunged

But

She was

Simply sad.

Just plain sad. People do not like to see that

Sadness.

Tears.

Crush

Standard

The Ravens are busy telling stories

Outside my window.

They have the most recognizable voices.

The sweet, sweet smell of clover

And the melody of the bees working so

Diligently as I walk through the fields.

(I remember how afraid i once was of the bees)

This song of the wind

Brings harmony to my carefully

Placed bare footsteps kissing the

Soil.

I do not wish to crush anyone

Or anything.

Currents

Standard

And here

Untamed winds blow.

I never tire

Watching

The plains grass ripple with ever

New currents, new gusts.

A rhapsody

So beautiful.

And the clouds

Go on forever

As I settle into myself,

My hair a mess.

I am  melancholy

But my spirits lift as I sit

And sway with the tall grass.

I imagine I am the bird riding

These unseen shifts and using them to see

Clearly

What is around me.

Having faith in the realization

That I know more than I

Give myself credit for.

Instinct and intuition.

Swaying

Standard

Now I sit in the rocker by the window.

The motion,

The melodious creak bringing me

Comfort.

And I stare at the trees and the clouds

Swaying in the rhythm of the wind.

An occasional

Blue jay or dove stops within my view

In search of nourishment.

And I let my mind wander where it will

As light slowly

Slinks away to make room

For

Night.

Affintiy

Standard

Yes I have an affinity

For

Rainbows

And

Getting lost.

Kind words and lip gloss.

Singing in the rain

And record players.

Wind in my hair

And

Silence.

Dancing by myself and stranger’s grins.

Sand in my toes

And the smell of mountain air

On my skin.

So many little things that go so far.

Yes they make me smile.

You see

These little things save me

From myself.

Love Through Winter

Standard

Ah

But I breathe.

I hear a sigh escape your lips

As you see the colors too.

As you see the wind pulling the leaves from the trees.

They do their final dance for us.

 And they return to the

Earth

That nourished them.

Some ride the wind so delicately.

Others seem out of control

As if fighting the pull of gravity.

Ultimately they all fall.

We endure.

I feel the warmth of your skin

As

You move closer.

This knowing between us,

It is time to hold each other.

This sorrow,

We must let it envelope us

If we are to ever love through winter.

Apparition

Standard

You must have been an

Apparition.

A made up someone in my

Imagination.

For I wandered these stone stairwells

And

I roamed through

Winters withering garden

Following your song.

I knew I should find shelter,

Somewhere to warm my core.

But once outside I could return

Inside no more

For

I was met with barred windows and

Locked doors.

I found you in the courtyard.

I tried to reach you.

Touch you.

You vanished as I approached.

My fingers now cold and frozen,

I,

Left dreaming in the fog with ghosts and snowflakes.

And I remained alone

As I was all

Along.

I must have mistaken the

Wind howling through

Windows and doors,

Through

      Winters garden

                                For your song.
