Gray Spring

Standard

I step outside this gray spring morning.

How melodious the sound of rain meeting the metal roof;

How delightful to my ears this song of water drops each colliding and melding together,

Flowing to the gutters and spilling onto the soil.

How beautiful the sensation of this dance;

Water kissing my skin.

If I listen close I can hear the earth drinking and absorbing

It all in;

As does my heart and soul,

Quenching this thirst.

Roots and Bugs

Standard

It is a wonderful thing

To throw the windows open in spring

And look upon the world.

I stand still and welcome the air

Come

Saturate my skin.

Better yet

The morning dew is winking at me

And the smell of fresh cut grass is teasing me.

“ Come play, come play”

They say

Knowing precisely how to lift my spirits,

So out i go.

And my mind eases

And i forget my troubles as i settled my tired Bones

Amongst the roots, bugs and soil.

Lifting my gaze to the sky

And closing my eyes,

Humming softly to myself

I am free.

Rush

Standard

Do not rush spring

Because winter

Was too long.
Enjoy the awakening

And the return of

Each flowers sweet scent.

The delicate unfolding of each petal.

Each opening of

Every new growth on the branch

Of the pussy willow

And push of the tenacious root through soil.

Feel the awakening of the moment

As they too welcome and embrace you.
