She Sees Herself

Standard

No one has really ever known her.

Seen her.

It is because she seldom speaks up.

She is so tired of

Trying to be heard above the noise.

She does not share her stories anymore

So others just see her smile.

They feel her hugs.

They think she is the quiet girl,

The frail one

Because she is kind.

She is learning that she does not have to explain to anyone.

She used to try but her lips stop her now.

And her heart.

Someday she will meet someone who truly sees her.

Until then she sees herself and that is enough.

Lights On

Standard

She always has a smile

And is such a good girl.

Would never do anything

To make you feel bad.

Would never let you know when she is

Sad.

And so,

She walks herself home

Most nights

And sleeps with the lights on.

Though she is always there,

You never notice when she has gone,

Away.

Staying on the edge of the shadows,

She sits at home alone

And

Wonders

If she is real

Or if

The others are just ghosts in the light.

When It’s Raining

Standard

She only comes out

When it’s

Storming.

The raindrops embrace

Her tears.

She only comes out

When it’s

Raining.

The thunder hides

Her cries

As she trembles in

Fear.

She only smiles

At clouds

And butterflies.

Likes the sun in her eyes.

And now

She’s standing at the bus stop

Laughing out loud.

You see,

 She knows no one else

Can

See the Angels

Keeping company

With the

Lonely people

As they

Pass her by.

She Smiles

Standard

She smiles
But there is an edge in her eyes
And you wonder why
As you pass her by.

She laughs out loud
But there’s a sadness in the sound
And you wonder why
As you pass her by.

Her life has never been
Quite as it seems
To the naked eye
Of a passerby.

There are mysteries
In her heart
And sorrows in her soul
That’s she’s never shared,
That nobody knows.
