Heat

Standard

The truck engine rumbles

And the vibration makes me sleepy.

It is so hot already and it is not even

June.

Summer heat might kill me this year.

I like the cold better.

It makes me feel alive.

This humid heat makes me feel dreary and heavy;

Like I might take a nap and never wake up.

It makes the pavement too hot to go barefoot and I do not like shoes.

Even though I breathe through my mouth I feel as if I might suffocate when I have to wear shoes.

Summer Dreams

Standard

Summer dreams.

I think of them as my

Feet

Step on and crunch

The crispy leaves that have fallen on this path

Before me.

The lucky ones fall to the forest floor

Where no human

Makes their way.

The lucky ones;

Reabsorbed into the

Dirt.

.

I will tuck those dreams in for the winter,

To sleep now

And reawaken them in spring;

Though maybe they will have changed by then.

We might not know each other anymore,

These summer dreams and I.

Time Slumbers

Standard

Clouds of black

As day turns to night.

I try to speak with all my might,

Soundless.

On hands and knees I crawl.

The wind pushes me to where i do not wish to go,

Where i do not recall my name.

My skin feels not my own.

I lie motionless,

Overcome with shadows.

Still i breath.

I sleep until I forget

And dream

In a place

Where time slumbers

And forgets as well.

Without Fear

Standard

You are afraid of the way she leaves you

Reeling.

She can feel you.

See more than your skin.

Parts of you not one single heart has

Seen.

Or held.

No questions

Or explanations.

Just being.

You move to her without resistance

For there is none left,

Not even in your darkest parts.

The voices have hushed.

She has penetrated and annihilated the threat

For she is audacious.

Reached into them with her unspoken light

And held each one to her soul.

Singing them to sleep

Without destroying herself.

Now look.

Without fear there is only

Love.

Blink

Standard

And you write it all down

Because

You cannot tear it out of your skin.

Looking to the heavens,

Waiting to hear the Angels sing.

Hemorrhaging.

Hurling yourself to the ground.

Trying to keep your eyes open as you sleep,

But your mind keeps seeing the memories every time

You

Blink.

Your head left your heart for dead

While you were

Dancing with devils in the dark.

Bargaining and begging

With yourself for love.

Feeling like you are going to pieces,

Falling apart.

You think you would do anything to empty your heart.

But you won’t.

You know you wouldn’t.
