Coalesce

Standard

Desirous skin

Mouth so tender

I take pause as you surrender

To this love.

Nothing left but this love.

We

Broke open.

Laid bare

And

Shattered through love.

There was too much passion to be

Contained

In one vessel anyway.

We had no choice in the collision.

Now melding.

Coalesce.

Between you and I

We are a

Luscious mess.

Mountains of the far north in my soul.

I have felt the caress of oceans from east to west in my heart.

The southern sun has kissed my skin with hope.

They have all given what I need in moments,

In those times when I did not know what I was in search of.

I love them all and owe them everything;

I am owned by none.

I rise each day and journey on in trust.

Old Piano

Standard

Once this old piano knew happy days

For music brings joy

And passion.

Cobwebs and dust have settled on the keys.

Broken strings and rust sleep well

In dark places.

Notes forgotten

For it cannot play itself

Back to

Music.

Yearning for the feel of

Warm fingers upon

The ivory;

For harmonious voices to join in

All its melodic glory;

For bodies full of life and love to glide and swing as one.

Silence plays

Alone.

Time does not forget,

People do.

A Poet’s Seduction

Standard

Seduce.

You lure and entice.

A poet’s seduction.

A maker of sighs and smiles.

Words of reality woven

Into the ink of fantasy

Until you cannot tell

Which one you have become.

Which one you yearn for.

Words caressing your heart and mind.

Finding their way into depths

Even you yourself cannot find.

Tempting and tantalizing

Between passion and longing.

Loneliness and belonging.

Lust and hate

Love and distaste.

You’ve left yourself

Bargaining for

More than a phrase.
