Dancing

Standard

Dancing.

I

Replace my worries

With passion.

I forget all but the music and my body moves without

Any other concern but a rhythm

Older than time.

For all of me loves every layer of every note,

Every beat.

If I were not able to dance I would die,

The weight of all I carry in me crushing

My very internal being.

I  have to set those fierce ones physically free.

The ones that hang on so very  tight

To my heart and skin,

That cannot be

Placed in ink or breath.

The dance becomes me

And I,

The dance.

Old Piano

Standard

Once this old piano knew happy days

For music brings joy

And passion.

Cobwebs and dust have settled on the keys.

Broken strings and rust sleep well

In dark places.

Notes forgotten

For it cannot play itself

Back to

Music.

Yearning for the feel of

Warm fingers upon

The ivory;

For harmonious voices to join in

All its melodic glory;

For bodies full of life and love to glide and swing as one.

Silence plays

Alone.

Time does not forget,

People do.

Sneak Out

Standard

Let’s sneak out after midnight.

Meet me down the road.

We’ll go running through the field.

Nobody will know.

Bring your father’s bourbon

And a radio too.

We’ll listen to some music.

Maybe dance a song or two.

I’ll bring us a blanket

And wear my yellow dress.

The one I wore last summer.

The one you like best.

We’ll lay down with each other.

Not breathe a single word.

Because we know what our hearts are saying.

Nothing that can be heard.

We’ll count the stars to a million.

We’ll laugh until we cry.

We’ll hold each others hands.

Watch the lightening bugs make fire in the

Sky.

And I can’t wait to see you.

Can’t wait to breathe you in.

Can’t wait to see your laughing eyes

And do it all again.

Loveliness

Standard

I

Will pull the loveliness out of you.

I see it.

I feel it.

I hear it.
The music you have kept hidden inside your

Soul.

I will pull those dreams out into the open,
The secret dreams you have kept slumbering.
And we will
Resuscitate them.
You will give them breath
From the depths of your soul.
We will stand together and marvel
In joy at the sight of your true
Light.
You will no longer resist yourself
And you will have no choice but to roar like a

Lion.

Let
Those dreams you have feared
Sleep no more.

Magic

Standard

She knows what it feels like to be invisible.

To be in a room with hundreds

Of people

And,

Like the air,

They breathe her in not realizing

She is there.

Her heartbeat the passion of the music.

The cellos

The violins,

And the dance.

Her presence creating a magical trance

And strangers smile as she drifts by,

Not knowing why.

There is delight in their hearts

At the gentle brush

Of her hand as she passes through,

A mere whisper of a breeze.

Her aura

At the tip of their memory.

Something they long for entirely

But cannot quite reach.

A haunting memory

Of a desire to hold onto

Yet

Out of their grasp,

She slips away.

And they,

The strangers

Are left asking

One another

If anyone else sensed the

Magic

They cannot describe.
