How quickly
We forget
After birth,
After crawling,
After
Walking,
That we were born to
Hold one another.
To comfort and lift,
To help one another.
And as it was, is,
And ever will be;
Love.
How quickly
We forget
After birth,
After crawling,
After
Walking,
That we were born to
Hold one another.
To comfort and lift,
To help one another.
And as it was, is,
And ever will be;
Love.
I touch
You
And in that instance
We are
Every emotion,
Memory
Imaginable.
Immersed in eternity itself.
My insides trembling
With
Awareness
Grazing lips feather light
Fervent heartbeats
Against
Skin so soft
And there we are
Holding
Unfaltering
Your eyes upon my
Bare heart
As you too quake in
Awareness
Remembering;
There was a
Well worn path between
Our being
All along.
He (she too) knows he is called strange
And beautiful in the same breath.
His (her) delight in life contagious
But then
Given time
And the right mix of elements
He (she does) crashes
And no words nor touch
Can reach him.
Blinded and numb.
He regresses.
He recoils.
(She turns within)
For no one can save him and he knows this.
They do not fathom the depths
Of despair.
(She knows)
He can hold his breath longer
For he knows at the surface
The darkness waits unbidden.
It always waits
Unbidden and unseen by others.
(They do not see it
They do not feel it)
And they lose patience
Going on their way
To fill their own void for they cannot hold their
breath any longer.
(She is still there)
And he resurfaces.
Returns from the untime
To be aware.
Skin tender, jaw tight
Legs jelly
And goes on.
Invites others from empty tables to join him.
Holds others when their arms are too full
And smiles
Because he is thankful they have not swam so
deep into the darkness as he.
(He sees remnants of shadows on her eyes)
She asks how you are doing.
You have a short
Conversation,
The whole time
Her heart screaming inside her
Chest,
“I am so lonely.
So goddamn lonely.”
Her brain holding the dam straight and strong against
The welling of tears.
And she laughs.
She hugs you
A little longer than you feel comfortable so
You let go
And
“Let’s catch up soon”
And she glances to the ocean.
The ocean who is always calling.
And she thinks how much she longs to go to her.
“The ocean will hold me as long as I need
And stroke my tangled hair.”
She asks for nothing
In return.
“And i do not need to speak.
I walk on to where i need to go
Leaving the ocean for
Now.
She waits for my return.”
Her heart beating morse code,
Begging,
Wait for me. Wait for me.
Crawl inside your own chest
And hold yourself
Love yourself wholly
The stars are so close
In this night sky
I may touch them,
Hold them if
I try.
Instead I will close my eyes
Let them remain where they shine
For I know they are not
Solely
Mine to possess.
Ah
But I breathe.
I hear a sigh escape your lips
As you see the colors too.
As you see the wind pulling the leaves from the trees.
They do their final dance for us.
And they return to the
Earth
That nourished them.
Some ride the wind so delicately.
Others seem out of control
As if fighting the pull of gravity.
Ultimately they all fall.
We endure.
I feel the warmth of your skin
As
You move closer.
This knowing between us,
It is time to hold each other.
This sorrow,
We must let it envelope us
If we are to ever love through winter.
Another morning.
Her blood seems to be fighting
With her skin.
Her bones are trying to sing
But
All her heart can hear
Is
Rain.
She will keep dancing
To the rhythm
Of the drops.
She will hold
Them as if a lover,
Welcoming them into her skin.
And she will dance again.
I
Will
Dance
Again.
Trembling hands
Touch.
(Hold me steady)
Is this too much?
Quaking lips meet.
(Hold me steady)
I don’t know if this
Heart is ready
For the next move
Into
You.
So many hearts
Beating around this world
Some fast
Some slow
Some out of control.
So many bodies longing for warmth
Reaching
And grasping
For someone to hold.
We pack it all up
When we step out
The door
And roleplay
And laugh
Like we don’t feel alone.
