chorus

Standard

I step mindfully on the rivers edge

As to not stumble and fall.

The water is very patient in this, its journey,

To shape the earth whether a drop or

A cascade.

I must stop and steady myself if I wish to lift my gaze to the heavens.

I hear a thousand voices in the winds.

Even the eagles above and the river

Below join in the chorus of our ancestors;

It is always love.

Expectantly

Standard

I stand at the edge of

All that I know

And peer expectantly into forever,

Hoping to catch you glancing

At me.

 I savor those

Moments,

A look between you and

I.

And all is said

There in your eyes.

All that I need.

And hearts still beat,

And lungs still breathe.
And no one knows that time has stopped

Within

Until our eyes

Blink once again.

Break Free

Standard

Unleash me.

Let me be.

Let me breathe.
My wrists are raw.
Bleeding
From these chains.
I’m ready to do it,
I’m ready to break free.
So you have hidden the key?
I’ll chew my way out.
Break my teeth
On the cold metal
Rings.
Slice my hands
On the spikes
That decorate
This collar.
I’ll rip these
Restraints
Off the wall
And drag them down the hall
Wrecking everything
In my reach
Leaving a trail
A bloody mess
Of myself
If I must.
I’ll break down the door.
Off the edge
I will leap
And soar
To be kept by
You
No more.
