Air

Standard

Sitting on the front porch swing

Watching the clouds transform

As they swirl

And crash into each other;

Mixing and changing so naturally.

Separate ,

Then together.

Separate

And one.

Give and take; meld.

Never the same cloud remains

When i take my eyes away.

And they dance on

Dissapating

Becoming the air that I breathe.

I look back and they are gone;

And look back.

Unexpected

Standard

The trees before me

Wave an acknowledging hello

As the wind escorts the clouds

All blue and gray

Over the mountain peak.

And unexpected joy

Seeps into my skin as

A deer wanders near my seat and stops to stare.

An ant wanders onto my foot.

I know he is lost

For I have nothing to

Offer him.

Back to the dirt he returns.

I Knew Him

Standard

I knew him then.

The boy.

The child.

I knew him when the sun played on his shoulders.

When a glance at the clouds above would set him free.

When nothing could stop him from

Dancing

Or

Smiling.

It is as if another lifetime now.

I do not know what happened out there in the world.

I do not know who stole

Delight from his veins.

But I do know

Whoever

Stole it,

They did not take it all.

For

I see it in his shadow.

Forever

Standard

I must write today.
I must paint the sun
In rhymes.
Or not.
I must urge you to taste the
Rain
With your heart.
Become the air as it dances with
The leaves of the trees.
I ask you to
Close your eyes
And
Let a cloud roll
Off
Your tongue.
Sense the heat of the sun
As it plays on your skin.
Take notice as the ink amuses itself in your

Mind,
Leaving every word a memory indelibly

Impressed upon your soul.
Forever a part of you.

Drift

Standard
And so the tiredness settled into her bones.
Long had been the fight.
Sorrow had been her burden for too long
Confusion had blurred her sight.
With heavy heart
She lay herself down
In the daisies
And stared at the clouds above
Allowing the earth to cradle her bones.
Oh, to be a cloud drifting so weightlessly.
Nothing but the air to
Kiss her body up there.
The silence so clear up high.
To glide
Upon the wind
And breathe harmony
So free.
To drift and never return
Below…

Dare

Standard

Dare to drink
The poem
That is me.
Dare to let
My moves settle
In your soul.
Dare to take me
Whole.
Lie with me in grass of green.
Dream with me in clouds of white.
Dance with me in days of wonder.
Dream with me in nights of slumber.
Feel this life upon our skin.
Drink the untrained passion
Hear the pulse of satisfaction.
Ride the endless heat
In this divine existence.
And you will know
You have the
Steadfastness
To dare.
Take me whole.
I dare
You.
