Rising Sun

Standard

She stood in the doorway
With her back to the sun
Knowing this was
The last
Time
She would see him.
And her heart filled with
Sorrow
Though her soul
Was at peace.

And her eyes filled with tears.

They fell to the floor
As she stood in the door
With her back to the sun.

She had nothing left

To prove.

Nothing left to hold.

Only the truth she would carry as
She turned and walked away.

Looking forward
For the first time
She could remember
To the light of a new day.

Never again would she turn her back to the sun.

Cracked Windows

Standard

I try to see out these windows.
These hazy
Cracked widows.
And my heart leaps
As my eyes catch a glimpse
Of what I think is you.
I sit here and wait
With a heart full of hope.
Sometimes I wander these
Old creaky floors
Opening windows and doors.

Filling this house with fresh air,
Clearing the cobwebs in the corners.

Dreaming and daring.

Anticipating your return.

Imaging you standing there looking at me

Through the hazy,

Cracked

Windows.
