Speak Again

Standard

And some come into your life to see

The aftermath.

To see you exhausted and easily startled.

They do not know you are spent from fighting.

From being strong for so long.

But you know,

You know.

You will speak again

When you are ready my darling.

Until then be at ease

With peace.

Breathe and see yourself.

You have to remind yourself,

It is only the echo.

It.

Is.

Only.

Echos.

The past is the past.

She could not

Standard

She could not find her way out of
The darkness.
She heard you calling,

Trying to guide
Her here and there.
But she could not decipher the language you Spoke.
And the paths.
Everyone constructs different paths,
Different maps.
And she does not understand them.
Their rules of speed and design.
When she is just herself.
She tries and tries to
Stay the course
But she ends up off the road
Muddy and beaten.
In shambles.
All they do is stare
And forget.
But I am still here.
Unseen.

Claustrophobic

Standard

We watched the meteor shower
While laying on the hood of your car
Then went
Skinny dipping in the
Old gravel
Pit.
Bacardi
On my lips.
Stars reflecting
On the cool water.
A chill in the air
But we didn’t feel it.

We howled at life and raced each other

With every breath we took.

Jumping fences, we ran with no particular

Destination in mind.

Adrenaline laughter.

Nothing else mattered.

Crescendo.
Young and alive
We didn’t think to spend our nights confined by

Four walls
In a soft bed.

Our hearts claustrophobic.

Our spirits satiated.
