Winter Morning

Standard

Writing this winter morning.

Thoughts so flitting,

Floating.

Coffee steaming,

Warming.

Snuggled in a blanket looking

Out frosted windows.

The kitty does not know what she wants

Jumping on my lap,

Then down.

I lose myself for moments

Distracted by the sunrise

Over distant mountains.

On beats my heart a little louder.

Once again it grows stronger.

I recognize my courage.

Mother Earth

Standard

Mother Earth sings her song.

It is in the dirt,

The wind,

The water of the raging rivers

And the peaceful ponds.

The trees and the mountains.

The lion and the sparrow.

We think we do not know her song

But we too are her song.

We have only become distracted

For her music is in our very cells.

The blood of our ancestors.

Be still, your soul

And listen.

This song never pauses.

Sing with her once more.

Time Slumbers

Standard

Clouds of black

As day turns to night.

I try to speak with all my might,

Soundless.

On hands and knees I crawl.

The wind pushes me to where i do not wish to go,

Where i do not recall my name.

My skin feels not my own.

I lie motionless,

Overcome with shadows.

Still i breath.

I sleep until I forget

And dream

In a place

Where time slumbers

And forgets as well.

Bring Them Home

Standard

We rise to the highest point

We see.

We bring with us

A flame,

One that has withstood much pain.

And with the flame comes much desire

To burn,

To burn.

To burn

Much higher.

To be seen by all

Who are fighting far from shore.

Far from home.

Their sight dim.

So burn brighter than before.

Burn brighter for the whole.

To bring,

To bring,

To bring

Them home.

Snowflake

Standard

On crisp snow I walk

And stop

To listen

To the snowflakes fall.

Silence.

I love to catch them on my tongue.

So light.

So delicate.

So beautiful.

I want to see each one,

Gaze into all of its

Intricacies.

My heart

In awe of every great design.

They remind me of us,

Our souls.

Each made of the same stuff and so

Utterly precious.

And we always fall into one another.

We should embrace the fall.
