A Message

Standard

I

Sat in the jungle

And disolved into the stillness.

Jaguar approached me

And pierced my skin.

As blood fell to the jungle floor

She said,

“This is the blood of everyone.

The anguish of your mothers

And fathers

Has already been shed.

You are anew.

You choose to carry pain from the past

Because you believe

You are supposed to.

Release it.

It is not yours to carry.

Your ancestors

And all of the universe

Wish for you to

Let it go.”

Melancholy

Standard

On this day I am feeling melancholy.

I cannot speak.

It is as if my hands are lead

And my feet do dread

Every step.

My eyes have forgotten how sweetly

They can see.

Even though the sun rises to

Caress my heart and remind me

I am alive.

My body screams

As it talks to itself

Misinterpreting every word.

My breath does not delight in the pleasure of

Breathing

This day.

Love Through Winter

Standard

Ah

But I breathe.

I hear a sigh escape your lips

As you see the colors too.

As you see the wind pulling the leaves from the trees.

They do their final dance for us.

 And they return to the

Earth

That nourished them.

Some ride the wind so delicately.

Others seem out of control

As if fighting the pull of gravity.

Ultimately they all fall.

We endure.

I feel the warmth of your skin

As

You move closer.

This knowing between us,

It is time to hold each other.

This sorrow,

We must let it envelope us

If we are to ever love through winter.
