Take Me Home

Standard

Take me home
Take me home
When I am done
Take me home

When I breathe my last breath
Take me home
To the mountains
Where I belong.

I’ve lived
And I’ve wandered
I’ve seen wonders in my dreams

But there is something
About the mountains.
To my home
My soul returns.

I’ve seen cities
I’ve seen deserts
I’ve crossed oceans near and far
But there is something about the mountains
They take reign of my heart

Still

Standard

If I were to lay down,
Lay down all of me

Allow you to see.

Would you be still?

Would you breathe?
Soak in the silence
Without stirring?
Could we love
Seeing the entirety of me
Feeling the completeness of us?
Could we settle in
The serenity
And share
The whole of you
With

Everything of me?
Allow me to see
Let me feel
The whole of you
In the stillness.

Sometimes

Standard

Sometimes
These
Feelings creep to
The top,

Thin,

Sharp

Boundary

Of my heart
And they start to dominate.
They take over the air that I breathe
Corroding the whole of me.
It’s like a hazmat scene
Inside my soul
Unsafe for anyone to venture
And
Well,
Nobody knows.
So I retreat
Where I can do battle
Alone.
No other casualties
Allowed
You see.
I refuse to take
Anyone else
Down with me.

Consider

Standard

Have you ever considered?

Has it ever crossed your mind
That some of the quiet people,
The ones you think have no opinion,
Have been slapped around
Have been shoved around
Have been belittled
And made to feel so
Insignificant
They believe
Their voice makes no sound
That their opinion has never mattered.
They have been
Gagged and bound
And pushed down to the point
Of suppression?
Maybe they are quiet
Because of the chaos
They have been
Through
And peace is the only thing that will save
Them.
Maybe they have almost run out of air and
They need the
Breath
They have left for living
Not words.

Drift

Standard
And so the tiredness settled into her bones.
Long had been the fight.
Sorrow had been her burden for too long
Confusion had blurred her sight.
With heavy heart
She lay herself down
In the daisies
And stared at the clouds above
Allowing the earth to cradle her bones.
Oh, to be a cloud drifting so weightlessly.
Nothing but the air to
Kiss her body up there.
The silence so clear up high.
To glide
Upon the wind
And breathe harmony
So free.
To drift and never return
Below…

While We Can

Standard

The sun is going down
And kissing us goodnight.
The moon is shining high
Lending us her light.
We love under her guidance.
We dream.

The summer air caresses us.
The universe
She cradles us.
Our hearts they beat as one.
It has begun.

You and me
Were always meant to be.

So what do you want to do?
Where do you want to go?
Tell me your love is true.
Tell me you want to know.

That I’ve got a little secret.
I was going to try and keep it
But your eyes, they are sparkling
And my smile, I can’t hide it.
And your laugh it is addictive
It stirs the music in my soul.

So let’s love while we can.
Come on,
Take my hand
And let’s fly
Higher than we’ve ever flown.
Where beauty steals the
Air from our lungs
And never look down.

Spark

Standard

That hope that once lived inside,

That burned you up
And set your dreams on fire
Where has it gone?
Where does it hide?
That open heart that gave you wings
And set you soaring above the
Clouds
Where has it gone?
Why do you have it bound?
That love of life
That quickened your heart
And lightened your step
Where does is sleep?
Why must you keep it
Hidden in the dark?
If you must,
Borrow my spark
And together let us
Reignite
That sleeping
Fire in your heart.
